Administrative Information Systems – Information Technology Services

The University of Iowa is looking for an enthusiastic and talented senior software developer to build robust, technically leading edge solutions. The University is undergoing major upgrades of both enterprise financial and academic systems. We need skilled web developers to translate customer needs into tangible solutions.
We want to hear from you if you have built web applications with Java/J2EE and have had exposure to the PeopleSoft ERP environment. We value attitude, expertise and work ethic.
Your focus will be on creating complex enterprise scale financial applications. Your responsibilities will be the analysis, design, development, integration and implementation of custom built object-oriented applications. You will be a member of a team of software developers and functional staff in a highly collaborative and diverse environment. You will have the opportunity to mentor other software developers.
Basic Qualifications include:
· Proven track record of delivering successful web applications through the full development lifecycle.
· Experience with J2EE core libraries, design patterns, refactoring, and unit testing.
· Relational database experience, including SQL and the use of persistence libraries and frameworks.
· Strong object oriented analysis, design and programming experience.
· Knowledge of the web application industry and technology trends.
· Exceptional communication and customer relations skills.
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or related field and experience (typically 3-7 years) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desirable Qualifications
· Knowledge of ERP systems.
· Experience with PeopleSoft Financials Application Suite including General Ledger, Purchasing, Accounts Payables, Asset Management, and Inventory Control.
· Understanding of PeopleSoft business processes, application technologies/tools, and SQR.
· Experience with software development best practices such as source code control, issue tracking, prototyping, testing, etc.
· Experience with multiple web technologies and development languages ( .NET, Ruby on Rails, etc.)
· Understanding of security issues and defensive programming techniques.
· Experience with software and database modeling.
· Strong organizational and project management skills.
· Exposure to a team oriented collaborative work environment.
· Experience with coaching and mentoring.
These positions will be filled at either the ADS Level -II (PC8309) or ADS Level -III (PC8411) classification depending on qualifications:
· To be eligible for the ADS Level- II classification, a candidate will typically have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or related field and experience (typically 3-7 years) or equivalent combination of education and experience
· To be eligible for the ADS Level- III classification, a candidate will typically have: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems and experience (typically 5-7 years) in applications development is necessary. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may also serve to meet these minimum requirements.
